Time Well Spent

It seems as if it was yesterday when I started my journey here at Walden University. I brought with me an open mind. Being presented with the many resources and interacting with my colleagues and lecturers, I found there was a wealth of knowledge in store ready to be harnessed. We have embarked on an incredible journey together.  A journey that has transformed me into who I am today, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity I have had.   I am very thankful for all of you being a part of my experience.  Without your similar passion for early childhood we would not be where we are today.
Here are some of my favorite quotes about education:
"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the welfare of our children is intimately linked to the welfare of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, some else's child will perform it. If one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will be responsible for the violent act. The good life for our own children can be secured only if a good secured for all other people's children." Lillian Katz

The highest result of education is tolerance. Helen Keller
He who opens a school door, closes a prison. Victor Hugo
A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. Henry Brooks Adams
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela
The secret in education lies in respecting the student. Ralph Waldo Emerson
I have long believed that the development of a child does not begin the day he is born -or at age three - but much earlier, during the formative years of his parents. Edward Zigler, Ph.D
There are so many things that I have gained as an educator, mentor, facilitator, and mother. Some of which include:
(a) Early experiences are key elements to children's adulthood.
(b) We belong to a diverse world wherein different perspectives are unleashed into the society.
(c) High quality early childhood programs have the same policies/approaches but not all are followed due to socio economic stability.
(d) Families, stakeholders, educators should be on one accord so as to sustain children's future. This can be done by being an advocate of change.
(e) Being knowledgeable about the power of community of practice for both my personal and professional development as well as the holistic development for the nation's children.
My long term goals include:
*To continue to learn, as we can learn something new every day.
*Upholding a positive, supportive relationship with children and families as this is important during the earliest years of life.
*Educating children, families, staff members, and other stakeholders about the importance of effective leadership.
In delving further, I want to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to all of my lecturers, colleagues, families and friends who assisted me throughout my time of this masters program. Indeed, your input was very beneficiary towards my growth and development as a strong and passionate educator.  In this Capstone I extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Dartt who never left me hanging I could count on your support and advice. Today, my knowledge has been extended and I am feeling elated to unleash all that I have gained. You are all very deserving of any achievements you will have in your life; I wish you the best and once again a big thank you.
